Is it time to get your Thinking Rebalanced?
When the tires on our cars become unbalanced, it can lead to future troubles on the highway. It’s wise to get them aligned and balanced at the service station from time to time. It’s the same thing with our inner lives. Although we may have developed positive, healthy thought processes, our life experiences can wear us down and knock us off balance.
These ideas (and many others) can be found in our book Rebalanced Thinking, Rebalanced Living: Developing Your Inner Life Through Social-Emotional Learning. Get your own copy by clicking HERE.

Because our thinking reflects our self-awareness and social-awareness,
it influences the decisions we make
and all of our personal and professional relationships.
Thinking can be out of balance,
which in turn can impact every aspect of our lives.
For a smoother journey, we need to get our thinking rebalanced.
Let’s remind ourselves that we have two different lives. One life is lived in the outside world. This includes all aspects of our life at home, work, or school. It’s everything that is out there. The other is in the inside world, our thoughts, beliefs, feelings, values, etc. — our inner life. This is our thought life and is made up of our attitudes, opinions, and beliefs about the outside world.

Everything we encounter takes place in these two worlds: the stuff out there and what we think about the stuff out there.
What percentage of our happiness or success at work or in relationships is tied to the outside world and what percentage is tied to the inside? Effective folks believe that most (90%) of their happiness or success is tied to the inside world and very little (10%) is tied to the outside.

Working on the Inside can Improve the Outside:
When we’re Thinking, Learning, and Communicating (TLC) effectively, we know we do not have control over the outside world, but we have more control of our thoughts or attitudes about the outside world. In knowing this, we use our inside world to influence
our experience of the outside world. By tapping into this idea, we have a better chance of being more in control of our own lives.

Identify a time when:
- You influenced the outside world in a positive way by controlling your inside world.
- You noticed the results you were getting were due to the condition of your inner life.
Watch for moments when:
- Your inner live is off balance BEFORE you impact the outer world in an ineffective way.
- You need to/can find time to rebalance your thinking before engaging with a person or situation in the outer world.
As mentioned above, if you would like to explore these ideas on a deeper, more deliberate level, you can find all of what you need in our book, Rebalanced Thinking, Rebalanced Living: Developing Your Inner Life Through Social-Emotional Learning.
