Many of our Wellness Wednesday readers are about to begin a new school year. It’s a natural time to consider how we can be better at what we do. This picture offers a process for getting better in our personal or professional lives.

CONTINUE: Consider what you have done in the past that has worked for you in your work, responsibilities, or relationships. What thoughts, beliefs, or actions do you see in your past that have resulted in your being successful or effective in getting the results you desire? What have you done that you want or need to continue doing?

START: Consider what you could do to be more effective or successful in your work, responsibilities, or relationships. What thoughts, beliefs, or actions haven’t you done that would result in your being more successful or effective in getting results you desire? What do you want or need to start doing?

STOP: Consider what you have done that has blocked or limited your effectiveness or success in your work, responsibilities, or relationships. What thoughts, beliefs, or actions have prevented you from being successful or effective in getting results you desire? What do you want or need to stop doing?

I recently asked some of my grandchildren these questions. They responded with:

CONTINUE:      Study habits…time management…training

START:             Asking for help…seeing my teachers more…taking the initiative to move outside my comfort zone

STOP:              Overthinking…complaining…spending too much time on my phone
